Xi'an freight trains operate 3,310 trips in first half of 2026

Between January and June of this year, China Railway Express (Xi'an) operated 3,310 train trips, representing an 8.3 percent year-on-year increase and setting a pace that could earn it a top ranking in multiple indicators for the ninth straight year.

The vast majority of the trips ran on China-Europe routes, with 452 operating on China-Central Asia routes, data from China State Railway Group showed. The total cargo volume reached 3.753 million metric tons, up 6.2 percent year-on-year, with 318,000 twenty-foot equivalent units shipped, a year-on-year rise of 2.2 percent.

Major cargo includes new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, and cross-border e-commerce products.

At Xi'an International Port Station, a train sets off or arrives every 80 minutes. One recent train, loaded with auto parts, daily consumer goods, ceramics, and other cargo, headed west for Duisburg, Germany.
