The giant water lily's remarkable load-bearing capacity is attributed to the unique structure of its leaves. On the underside, thick veins radiate outward from the center, interconnected by crescent-shaped cross ribs that create a sturdy, net-like structure.

Just as impressive are the giant aquatic plant's flowers, which undergo a stunning color transformation over three days. On the first day, the blossoms open in pristine white. By the second day, they shift to a delicate pink that gives way to a deep red on day three.
