Lin Jingzhen, former vice-president of Bank of China, has been prosecuted on charges of taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Wednesday. The case was investigated by the National Commission of Supervision before being transferred to procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution. Upon designation by the SPP, the Zhejiang Provincial People's Procuratorate approved Lin's arrest on suspicion of bribery.

The People's Procuratorate of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, recently filed a public prosecution against Lin with the Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court. During the review and prosecution stage, prosecutors informed Lin of his legal rights, questioned him, and listened to the opinions of his defense counsel.

According to the indictment, Lin took advantage of his former positions, including vice-president of Bank of China (Hong Kong) and vice-president of Bank of China, to seek benefits for others. In return, he illegally accepted money and valuables. Prosecutors said the amount involved was especially large and that Lin should be held criminally responsible for bribery.

Lin, 61, a native of Fujian province, had long worked at Bank of China. He became vice-president of Bank of China (Hong Kong) in 2015 and vice-president of Bank of China in 2018. He came under investigation in September 2025 and was expelled from the Communist Party of China in February 2026.
