A vessel from the China Coast Guard rescued a Taiwan fishing boat that caught fire on Thursday, the CCG said on Friday night.

According to a statement posted on the CCG's official WeChat account, the incident occurred approximately 76 nautical miles northeast of China's Huangwei Islet.

A CCG vessel on routine patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire and carry out search and rescue operations.

Seven crew members were on board at the time of the incident. Six have been rescued so far, and search efforts are ongoing, the statement said.

The CCG said it will continue to safeguard the safety of life and property of Chinese fishermen, including those from Taiwan, while maintaining normal navigation and operational order in the relevant waters.
