Chongqing-based motorcycle startup puts China's bike industry on the global map
China's motorcycle industry has reached a significant milestone, demonstrating its core strength to compete with the leading global brands. This was vividly demonstrated over the weekend when Chongqing-based motorcycle startup ZXMOTO achieved a historic victory in the Supersport class of the World Superbike Championship.
The championship, known for its use of production-based motorcycles, serves as a key platform for manufacturers to showcase their technological prowess. This triumph marks the first-ever race win in the Supersport class for a Chinese manufacturer, breaking a long-standing dominance of European and Japanese manufacturers, such as Ducati, Yamaha, and Kawasaki.
"Chongqing, China's 'Motorcycle Capital', is striving to become the world's 'Motorcycle Capital'," Tu Xingyong, deputy director of the Chongqing Commission of Economy and Information Technology, said at the 2025 China Motorcycle Chongqing Forum held in September. He emphasized the city's commitment to boosting its motorcycle industry with high-quality growth and innovation.
