Heavy rainfall forces suspension of some train services in Hunan

Heavy rainfall in Hunan province has forced the suspension of some train services and prompted multiple severe weather warnings, authorities said, urging travelers to monitor updates closely.

The Hunan Meteorological Observatory issued alerts on Thursday for severe convective weather, heavy rain, geological hazards, and mountain flood risks, according to ThePaper.cn, a major news portal. From Thursday evening through Friday, the province is expected to see widespread heavy rainfall, particularly in central and southern regions, accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail.

In response, the China Railway Guangzhou Group has suspended certain trains on the Shanghai–Kunming, Jiaozuo–Liuzhou, and Chongqing–Huaihua lines from Thursday to Friday to ensure passenger safety. Some services may also experience delays. Passengers are advised to check the 12306 website and station announcements for the latest information.

Authorities said train operations will be adjusted dynamically as weather conditions evolve, it said.
