Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, has suspended medical staff after a patient was left unattended on an MRI table for about six hours, the hospital said in a Friday statement.
The patient was forgotten after the scan ended in the early hours of Feb 26, the notice said, citing violations of work discipline and handover procedures by on-duty personnel.
Hospital management accompanied the patient for a full health check and has contacted the family to discuss compensation, it added.
The hospital has launched a rectification task force and ordered relevant departments to conduct a thorough review.
