Former senior provincial political advisor of Hubei expelled from CPC, public office

BEIJING -- Zhou Xianwang, a former senior political advisor from Central China's Hubei province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office over serious violations of discipline and laws, China's top anti-graft agency announced Sunday.

Zhou was a former member of the leading Party members group of the Hubei provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice chairperson of the committee.

Upon the approval of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Commission of Supervision (NCS) had conducted an investigation into Zhou's case, according to a statement by the CCDI and NCS.

Investigation found that Zhou had seriously violated the Party's political and organizational discipline, as well as discipline on upholding integrity, work and life, committed serious job-related violations and was suspected of taking bribes.

In line with Party regulations and laws, a decision has been made to expel him from the Party and public office, confiscate his illicit gains and hand over his case for judicial proceedings.
