The value of intended deals reached at the 8th China International Import Expo rose 4.4 percent year-on-year to arrive at a new record of $83.49 billion, Wu Zhengping, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau, said at a news briefing on Monday, when the six-day exhibition closed.

Up to 461 new products, technologies and service items made their debut at this year's CIIE, up from 450 last year and reaching a new high, according to Wu.

Companies have already signed up for about 80,000 square meters of exhibition area for the 9th CIIE to be held in November next year, he added.

About 4,108 exhibitors participated in the 8th CIIE, with their combined exhibition area covering 367,000 square meters, both new records. Up to 290 Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders were present at this year's expo. A total of 180 multinational companies have attended all eight editions of the expo.
