BEIJING -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Cai Qi has stressed the need to continue rectifying pointless formalities to ease the burdens on primary-level officials.

Cai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat, made the remarks on Tuesday at a meeting aimed at reducing the burden of primary-level officials caused by pointless formalities.

Cai urged steadfast implementation of the central Party leadership's eight-point decision on improving conduct and making consistent and sustained efforts in this regard, to provide a strong guarantee for the successful conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).

The meeting stressed addressing problems such as pursuing quick success and instant benefits, blind decision-making, excessive meetings and paperwork, low efficiency, as well as formalities in conducting supervision, inspection, evaluation, research and exchanges.

It also emphasized that the regulations on rectifying pointless formalities and reducing the burden on primary-level officials, issued in August, must be strictly implemented with consistent and thorough enforcement.
