Summer box office surpasses 10b yuan

China's 2025 summer box office revenue has exceeded 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) as of Monday, with local productions dominating the top three spots, according to ticketing platforms Maoyan and Beacon. Dead To Rights leads with 2.6 billion yuan in ticket sales since its July 25 release.

Autonomous regions see robust growth

The combined GDP of China's five autonomous regions surged from 6.01 trillion yuan ($843.1 billion) in 2020 to nearly 8.38 trillion yuan in 2024, a senior official said on Monday. Duan Yijun, deputy head of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, announced the figures at a news conference held by the State Council Information Office.
