Chinese scholar: Global Governance Initiative aligns with Global South's needs
Liao Fan, director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the Global Governance Initiative provides intellectual guidance and a framework for action for Global South countries to shift from a "governed" status to a more inclusive form of "co-governance".
Speaking at the Global Strategic Dialogue 2026, Liao noted that shortly after its introduction, the initiative quickly garnered support from over 160 countries and international organizations. This widespread endorsement underscores the growing, irreversible consensus on the need to reform and enhance global governance and achieve shared development. It also represents a crucial pathway for the Global South to advance and catch up.
