Andreas Roehrl, the 10th-generation heir of a Bavarian brewing family, now deems Liaoning as his "second home" after building a brewery near Dahuofang Reservoir in the northeastern Chinese province.
Explaining why he chose Liaoning, Roehrl said, "Ninety percent of a glass of beer is water.
"We inspected several places in China, and the water quality here is the closest to that of our source in Ellingen, Germany."
Roehrl still believes in adhering to the 1516 German Beer Purity Law, continuing an international brewing story that combines traditional German craftsmanship with high-quality Chinese water sources.
