"Human rights should be rooted in the national context. There is no single model for human rights," said Rodrigo Martín Viva Nieves, associate professor at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Uruguay, during the Second China-LAC Human Rights Roundtable.
The roundtable brought together more than 130 officials, experts, and scholars in the field of human rights from 20 countries across China, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Participants discussed topics such as human rights protection in the digital and AI era, the intersection of environment, climate, and human rights, as well as the contributions of China and Latin America to global human rights governance.
