"Its head can smoothly lean forward or backward, tilt left or right, and rotate its antennas," Tian said. "On the screen that serves as its face, delicate micro-expressions that change synchronously are generated in real-time to interact with humans."
Another robot developed by the company, modeled after the popular character Ne Zha, will provide navigation and tour guide services in the athletes' village, Tian added.
Over 10 types of robots in four categories, developed by Chengdu Yuefan Innovation Technology, will also provide services within the athletes' village.
Liu Xiang, marketing director of the company, said six indoor delivery robots will be responsible for transportation within buildings, six retail robots will provide instant shopping services, two delivery robots will handle cross-building transportation, and one patrol robot will ensure security 24 hours a day.
