College students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait gathered near the Grand Canal, one of the most significant waterways in ancient China, in Tongzhou in Beijing for a friendly dragon boat race over the weekend. The event aimed to provide participants with a firsthand experience of the ancient traditional culture while fostering friendships through spirited competition.

More than 120 young students from 12 prestigious universities, including Peking University and Tsinghua University from the Chinese mainland, as well as Fu Jen Catholic University and Kaohsiung Normal University from Taiwan, took part in the event organized by the Beijing Taiwan Compatriots Association on a Saturday morning.
