Fudan University School of Management and HK's COCHE sign MOU
The Fudan University School of Management and the Hong Kong Centre for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health Engineering (COCHE) officially signed a memorandum of understanding during the recently concluded 7th China International Import Expo.
The two parties will collaborate on the full lifecycle of scientific and technological innovation (sci-tech) enterprises incubated by medical sci-tech platforms in both the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, as well as internationally.
As a key part of the cooperation, the "Fudan University School of Management-Hong Kong COCHE Science and Technology Center" will also be listed in both directions, which not only foresees the deepening of cooperation between the two sides but will also become a new platform to promote science and technology cooperation among Shanghai and Hong Kong, further stimulate the vitality of scientific and technological innovation.
"Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health is a professional field that urgently needs breakthroughs," said Lu Xiongwen, dean of the Fudan University School of Management. "Our cooperation with COCHE is not only to promote exchanges and cooperation in this field between the two places, but also to build a window and a connection point to help Shanghai and Hong Kong form a new dual city effect in the field of medical science and technology innovation."
According to the agreement between the two parties, Fudan School of Management will jointly carry out the commercialization training of scientific and technological enterprises with the Hong Kong COCHE Science and Technology Innovation Center and the incubation of enterprises. It will select potential scientific and technological talents to participate in the Fudan Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Camp, join the Yangtze River Delta Science and Technology Incubation Platform, the Da Chuang Zhi Innovation Demonstration Zone and other supporting facilities. It will also accelerate the successful commercialization and transformation of relevant scientific and technological patent achievements.
Meanwhile, the scientific and technological enterprises cultivated by the Science and Technology Acceleration Center of Fudan School of Management will move to the international medical market through the COCHE platform, obtain the opportunity to incubate and develop on the Hong Kong scientific and technological investment platform, enhance the international exchange of scientific and technological innovation between Shanghai and Hong Kong, and realize the incubation and win-win cooperation of scientific and technological development.
Kannie Wai Yan Chan, director of the COCHE, said the cooperation will integrate the strengths of both parties in scientific and technological innovation management and the transformation of industry, university, and research, cultivate scientific and technological talents, realize the full chain incubation of scientific research to the market, build an international scientific and technological ecosystem, and promote the development of high-quality productivity in medical science and technology.
"At the same time, the cooperation will accelerate the international promotion of scientific and technological achievements and bring innovation to the global field of cardiovascular health," she added.
Solina Ngai, executive director of the COCHE, said that the core purpose of this cooperation is to incubate science and technology enterprises and promote the commercialization of scientific research results. "We pay attention to the exchange and cooperation of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Center. Through incubating enterprises, promoting the transformation of scientific research results and strengthening talent training and cross-field cooperation, we are confident in contributing to solving global problems such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases."
As an organization focused on engineering research for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health, COCHE focuses its research and development on providing key technical support for early monitoring and diagnosis of potential acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, according to William Zhang, head of Business Development at the COCHE.
Currently, COCHE has 17 research projects and 68 patents, incubated 13 biotechnology companies specializing in different subfields such as cardiovascular ultrasound and cerebrovascular imaging, and has collaborated with top international institutions such as the Karolinska Institute and the University of Oxford.
