Shunyi Arts and Culture Festival kicks off

The inaugural Shunyi Arts and Culture Festival, a grand celebration of the arts, officially opened with a stunning performance of the classic dance drama, "Orphan of Zhao," at Shunyi Grand Theatre in Beijing on Saturday.

The festival aims to establish Shunyi's first international, branded, and high-end district-level festival centered around performing arts. Divided into four thematic sections, the festival offers a diverse range of performances, from artistic masterpieces to public welfare performances, promoting the arts to the wider Shunyi community.

A rich lineup of performances is scheduled throughout the festival, spanning from August to November. The event features renowned troupes, artists, and plays, including the 85th anniversary performance of "The Yellow River Cantata," and the classic ballet "The White-Haired Girl".

In addition to world-class performances, the festival offers a variety of educational activities, such as masterclasses, dance workshops, and meet-the-artists sessions. These initiatives aim to make the arts accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

It is said it is committed to contributing to Beijing's goal of becoming a national cultural center and a "performing arts capital".
