Tengger Desert's massive solar project powers multiple provinces with green energy
In the Tengger Desert of Zhongwei, in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, a 2-million-kilowatt photovoltaic project is being carried out in an orderly manner and is expected to generate green electricity for multiple provinces.
The first phase of the project was completed in April of last year, and so far, 2.06 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity have been delivered from the desert.
In fact, numerous high-quality renewable energy projects have been established here over the past few years, as the Tengger Desert is endowed with abundant natural resources.
These projects have not only helped meet the surging demand for electricity across the country but have also greatly contributed to local economic growth.
The State Grid’s Zhongwei Power Supply Co. stated it has specifically strengthened the inspection and maintenance of local transmission lines to ensure the electricity generated here could be smoothly transported.
