State councilor calls for better care, services for children

BEIJING -- Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin has called for more activities to provide further care and services for children during the summer vacation.
Shen, also president of the All-China Women's Federation, made the remarks Tuesday at an event in Beijing, where she declared the launch of a summer campaign for care and services for children.
The campaign was jointly organized by the ACWF and 15 other departments.
Shen urged local governments and relevant authorities to make sure children's development is prioritized while giving them love and help with all their hearts.
She also talked with mothers present at the event and encouraged them to dedicate themselves to voluntary service, thus enabling the children to spend a happy, safe and fulfilling summer vacation.
