Suzhou's hero woman laid to rest
The funeral of Hu Youping, a resident of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, who lost her life after attempting to stop a knife attack that injured two Japanese nationals, was held on Friday at the local funeral parlor, according to Suzhou Daily.
Family, friends, local residents, and government officials paid respect to Hu at the ceremony.
Hu was seriously injured in the attack that occurred at around 4 pm on Monday at a bus stop in the Suzhou New District. She died in hospital on Wednesday.
Two Japanese nationals were also injured in the attack.
The family of Hu expressed sincere gratitude to people from all walks of life who have expressed care and condolences.
Anyone with a sense of justice and a loving heart would have made a similar choice, the family said.
The family added they just wanted her to rest in peace. They will not accept any donation and do not want to be disturbed.
After the incident, local Party and government authorities visited the hospital to express condolences.
