BEIJING -- Li Pengxin, a former senior official of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has been arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said in a statement on Friday.
Li, formerly served as deputy secretary of Xinjiang's regional committee of the Communist Party of China, was expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office over serious violations of Party discipline and laws earlier this month.
The case was transferred to the procuratorial authorities for review and possible prosecution after the National Commission of Supervision concluded its investigation, the SPP statement said.
Further investigation into this case is still underway.
