More than 23,000 people affected, 138 relocated in Guangxi due to rain
Over 23,000 people from 55 townships in seven cities of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region have been affected by torrential rains and subsequent flooding, causing 138 residents to be relocated to safety as of Monday afternoon.
According to the regional water authority, as of 8 am Tuesday, the water levels of four stations from four rivers, including the Panyang and Qingshui rivers, had exceeded the warning level by 2 meters at most.
According to meteorological monitoring, from 4 pm Sunday to 4 pm Monday, 55 townships in 21 counties of seven cities, including Hechi and Laibin, experienced heavy rainstorms.
In response, the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters initiated a Level IV emergency response for flood control and dispatched a working group to Guangxi to assist and guide flood control efforts.
