Top legislator, top political adviser meet Indonesian official

China's top legislator Zhao Leji and top political adviser Wang Huning met separately with Puan Maharani, speaker of Indonesia's House of Representatives, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that China will continue to strengthen Belt and Road cooperation with Indonesia, align development strategies and enhance people-to-people exchanges to cement public support for building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. The NPC is willing to carry out communication and exchanges with Indonesia's House of Representatives, he said.

Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said in his meeting with the Indonesian parliamentary leader that the top political advisory body would like to strengthen communication and exchanges with Indonesia's House of Representatives to better serve each other's development and promote bilateral relations.

During the meetings, Maharani said that Indonesia would like to deepen cooperation with China and work together to address various challenges.

Jakarta firmly upholds the one-China principle, she added.

Vice-premier calls for jointly strengthening biodiversity

Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang expressed hope on Tuesday that the launch of the Kunming Biodiversity Fund will serve as an opportunity for various parties to jointly strengthen biodiversity protection and build a shared future for all life on Earth.

Ding made the remarks in a speech delivered at the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements of the fund in Beijing. The agreements were signed between the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and relevant United Nations institutions.

He called on various parties to take practical actions to provide financial and technical support as well as support for capacity-building for developing countries to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
