Indonesian president welcomes Chinese investment, rejects hype against ties
Jakarta will continue to provide a favorable business environment for Chinese enterprises and opposes any ill-intentioned hype or attempts to sow discord, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has said.
Indonesia welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country, Prabowo said while meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Defense Minister Dong Jun on Friday.
Indonesia looks forward to strengthening all-round strategic cooperation with China in areas including politics, the economy, and science and technology, the president said.
He added that he looks forward to traveling to Shenzhen in November to attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and further strengthen strategic communication and coordination with China.
Noting that China and Indonesia have highly complementary strengths, Wang said China is a trustworthy, long-term and stable partner in Indonesia's national development.
China has both the capability and the willingness to deepen cooperation with Indonesia to help the country translate its resources into drivers of development and accelerate its industrialization and modernization, he said.
No force can stop the rise of developing countries such as China and Indonesia, Wang said, calling on the two countries to strengthen solidarity and trust, support each other, and remain committed to openness and cooperation amid turbulence and complex external challenges.
