Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, honorary president of the Workers' Party of Brazil and Brazilian president, stressed the need for sharing governance experience between the two countries' ruling parties, as they sent congratulatory letters separately to the seventh theory seminar of the CPC and the Workers' Party of Brazil, which was held on Tuesday.

Xi said in his message that the Beijing seminar was held at the right time and is significant for the two countries to enhance the building of their ruling parties and explore paths to modernization suited to their respective conditions.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, as well as the 40th anniversary of relations between the CPC and Brazil's Workers' Party.

Standing at this new historical starting point, the CPC is willing to deepen governance experience exchanges with the Workers' Party of Brazil to promote the respective development of the two parties and countries and advance China-Brazil ties in the new era, Xi said.

In his congratulatory letter, Lula said that the past five decades have been a period when the two sides conducted exchanges and cooperation and deepened friendship toward the common goal of building a community with a shared future.

The Brazil-China comprehensive strategic partnership, which was taken to a new level last year by the two heads of state during Lula's visit to China, is important not only for the two countries but the whole world as well, he said.

He called on the two countries to consolidate, through cooperation, the traditional mechanisms on global governance such as the United Nations, while strengthening key mechanisms on South-South cooperation, including the Group of 77 and China.

Referring to the ties between the Workers' Party of Brazil and the CPC as a vital part of state-to-state relations, Lula said he firmly believes that the two sides will find more shared interests and cooperation opportunities through in-depth exchanges.

A delegation of the Workers' Party of Brazil that is visiting China attended the seminar. The previous such event was held in 2015, when a CPC delegation visited Brazil.
