Live streaming platforms find veterans jobs

Online live streaming platforms in China have opened up new ways to serve veterans, allowing more exemplary veterans to be seen and more veterans to find jobs, said experts.

"In cooperation with quality enterprises, we have organized 35 exclusive live recruitment events for veterans on Kuaishou, a popular short-video and live streaming platform in China, garnering more than 100 million participants and receiving more than 150,000 resumes," said Ni Guanghui, a senior official with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, at the inaugural Kuaishou public welfare ecology conference, on Wednesday.

"The initiative has contributed to the development of high-quality and comprehensive employment of veterans," Ni added.

The Kuaishou account of Chinese veterans has accumulated over 3.8 billion views.

Ma Hongbin, senior vice-president of Kuaishou, said that the integration of the content, commercial and industry ecology of short videos and live streaming with public welfare can create sustainable value for social agendas such as employment of veterans and graduates, rural revitalization and elderly care.

Dai Wei, deputy secretary-general of the Internet Society of China, described the internet as a catalyst for the development of philanthropy, as the internet has enlarged the contents, beneficiaries and management of public welfare.

"Unlike the traditional top-down approach, we envision a more inclusive and participatory public welfare model in the future," said Dai, adding that by integrating philanthropy into daily routines and making it accessible to everyone, a beneficent interactive relation can be created.
