The New Year's fireworks events in some Changsha's sightseeing places have been canceled due to the prevailing severe air pollution in recent days.

In a statement on its WeChat account, Changsha Window of the World, a famous tourist attraction in the capital city of Hunan, said the scheduled midnight fireworks celebration event has been canceled due to the severe air pollution.

However, all other performances, including the New Year's countdown and the balloon release celebration, will proceed as planned, according to the statement.

The staff members at Huayi Brothers Film Town and Fantawild Oriental Heritage Theme Park in Changsha have also announced the cancellation of New Year Eve's fireworks show, according to local media outlets.

In addition, Shanghai Disney Resort removed the fireworks show from its New Year's celebration.

The resort stated on Sunday that it "may make temporary adjustments to today's operational schedule for Shanghai Disneyland, including the removal of the firework effects in the special nighttime show Ignite the New Year" as Shanghai has issued the Air Pollution Yellow Alert.
