Liuyang fireworks celebrate Changsha tourism conference
A firework display was presented recently in Liuyang, Hunan province to celebrate the second Changsha tourism and development conference.
The conference was held in Liuyang from Oct 11 to 17 and the opening ceremony was held on Oct 13.
According to Huang Cheng, the chief director of the firework show, the show aimed to showcase Liuyang's brand as a firework city.
By hosting the show along the Liuyang River, it tried to achieve the maximum visual effect and offer audiences an immersive experience, he said.
Liuyang is famous for its fireworks, which date back more than 1,400 years. Liuyang fireworks have been used at major domestic and international events such as the Hangzhou Asian Games, the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the Qatar World Cup.
The total production value of Liuyang's firework industry reached more than 30 billion yuan ($4.1 billion) last year, accounting for 60 percent of the overseas market and 80 percent of the domestic market.
Each Saturday, there is a firework show along the Liuyang River, which attracts more than 100,000 travelers and more than 30 million yuan in tourism revenue.
