Former senior political advisor of Jilin indicted for graft

BEIJING -- Zhang Xiaopei, former vice chairman of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been indicted for receiving bribes, China's top procuratorate announced Friday.
According to the announcement released by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Zhang's case has been filed by the People's Procuratorate of Heze, Shandong Province, to the city's intermediate people's court.
Prosecutors accused Zhang of taking advantage of his various posts to seek benefits for others and accepting large sums of money and valuables in return.
The prosecutors had informed the defendant of his litigation rights, questioned him, and listened to the defense counsel's opinions.
