Chinese tourism sector sees promising rise during National Day holiday

The just finished eight-day National Day holiday has seen the strong recovery and growth of the Chinese tourism market, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The ministry released a report on Friday evening, showing that domestic attractions have received around 826 million visits during the holiday - from Sept 29 to Friday - up 71.3 percent year-on-year. The number also marks a growth of 4.1 percent from that in 2019 - the year before epidemic hit.
Tourism-related revenue has registered a remarkable growth as the report said, reaching around 753.4 billion yuan ($103 billion) in eight days, a year-on-year rise of 129.5 percent and a growth of 1.5 percent from that in 2019.
Overlapping with the Mid-Autumn Festival, the traditional festival for full moon appreciation and family reunions that fell on Sept 29 this year, some traditional cultural events, for example, appreciating festive lanterns, are popular among people, according to the ministry.
Local authorities have also launched some supportive policies by giving people consumption coupons and ticket discounts during the holiday to attract more travelers.
