Railway network expects 190m passenger trips
About 190 million passenger trips are expected to be made via China's national railway network during the upcoming National Day holiday, also known as the Golden Week, the country's railway operator China State Railway Group said.
According to the group, the holiday travel rush will begin on Sept 27 and end on Oct 8, lasting for a total of 12 days.
This year's Mid-Autumn Festival will fall on Sept 29, overlapping with the National Day holiday, making the total holiday to 8 days.
During the Golden Week, people have a strong desire to travel, including for family visits and tourism, and railway passenger flow will show a strong growth trend, according to the company.
The railway department is increasing the supply of transportation capacity, adding more services to cater for passengers' need. The national railway system will implement a peak operation schedule. Under the schedule, the seating capacity has increased by 18.5 percent compared to the same period in 2019, the company said.
