Maoming suspends schools due to flooding

Schools and kindergartens were suspended in parts of Maoming, Guangdong province on Sunday as continuous heavy rains caused serious flooding.
People in the city were advised to stay indoor to avoid risks related to flooding.
Gaozhou Reservoir in the city started to discharge flood on Sunday morning as the water went above the warning level.
Affected by the remnants of Typhoon Haikui, Maoming recorded average rainfall of 111.1 millimeters in the 24 hours prior to 3 am on Sunday, with maximum rainfall of 334.7 millimeters during the period, triggering a red alert against rainstorms in most parts of the city.
