Typhoon Haikui causes significant damage in Fujian

Typhoon Haikui has caused more than 5 billion yuan ($683 million) in economic losses to East China's Fujian province as of 5 pm on Tuesday, according to local authorities.
The Fujian government flood and draught control headquarters said the typhoon and heavy rain has affected more than 1.59 million local residents and around 300,000 residents have been evacuated.
Almost 10,000 hectares of farmland and 2,537 homes have been damaged, the headquarters said.
