Some 99,999 black porgy fish seedlings were released into the sea during a wedding ceremony in Shishi of Quanzhou, Fujian province, on June 27.

The newlyweds, from Xiangyu village in Xiangzhi town, collaborated with Fujian's marine ecological civilization promotion association, the ocean committee of Fujian's volunteer association, and Shishi's agriculture and rural affairs bureau to initiate the public welfare activity featuring their wedding and the release of fish during the summer sea fishing moratorium.

It is the first of its kind in Shishi and is expected to introduce a new wedding trend in the area.

"The sea in this area is the place that nurtured and raised me. Since childhood, my parents have taught me to always be grateful for the ocean," said the groom Cai Yingjie, who was born in Xiangyu village in 1993.

Driven by this deep-rooted belief, Cai has actively advocated for the protection of marine resources, whether during his studies in Xiamen of Fujian or when he later founded his own company. His company is one of the director units of Fujian's marine ecological civilization promotion association.
