Sino-French discussion focuses on reserves, biodiversity

China and France are holding a two-day dialogue on national park management at the Wuyishan National Park.

The event, which began on Tuesday and is titled "China-France Dialogue on National Park Systems", focused on the reform of the national natural reserve system and ways of achieving biodiversity goals.

It was organized by China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the French Development Agency.

Representatives from China's national parks, provincial forestry bureaus and conservation areas attended the discussions.

Chinese representatives stated that their national park system is still in the exploration phase and welcomed the opportunity to learn from other countries' experiences.

In 2019, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the French Biodiversity Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding on conservation cooperation.

In April, leaders from both sides issued a statement furthering collaboration in the field of nature reserve conservation.

This dialogue is a key step toward realizing the goals of the joint statement, the administration said.
