Folk artist in Liaoning connects with Germany

Folk artist Yu Qiquan began an art exchange with Barbara Freiman, a German designer, recently in Shenyang, Liaoning province.
Yu said he is the fourth generation inheritor of Yu family knitting, which has both artistic and ornamental qualities and strong expressive power.
Shenyang houses thousands of foreign-funded enterprises such as BMW and Michelin. As early as 2016, Yu performed for then German chancellor Angela Merkel during her visit of Shenyang.
Freiman founded her children's clothing brand CocoRay. And as an artist, her daily life is constantly exploring the organic combination of different cultural elements and children's clothing design.
With more Germany investment and expats coming to Shenyang, Yu said he welcomes Angela back to take a look.
