Market in a bus pleases shoppers in Beijing
A market in a bus opened recently in Beijing to bring more convenience to residents.
Located near the Liufang subway station on North Hepingli Street in Chaoyang district, the market — a modified bus — uses four of its windows to serve customers. Two are for selling vegetables and two are for fruit.
Open from 7 am to 10 pm, the unusual market attracted a lot of nearby residents on Wednesday morning.
A woman in her 60s, surnamed Zhang, said she bought radishes, oyster mushroom and lentils.
"The vegetables are of good quality, affordable and fresh. Look at the fresh radish," she said. "I live nearby, and the bus market meets my needs. So I signed up for membership."
Ma Yan, a man with a short grey beard, said he just sent his wife to work and passed by the bus.
"I bought carrots, broccoli, lettuce, celery and Cedrela sinensis. You know spring is coming. With a membership, they cost me 18.3 yuan, which is much cheaper than other places. It's about a 30 to 40 percent discount," Ma said.
