To boost travel, Henan builds expressways
Central China's Henan province, with over 109 million residents, is building more expressways in its 17 prefecture-level cities to boost travel. In its northwestern parts, a nearly 48-kilometer expressway is in full progress since construction started in June 2021. For the Jiyuan-Xin'an Expressway, China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd installed the first prefabricated T-shaped box beam, 40 meters long and weighing 140 metric tons, on Changyuan Road Bridge. Some 14 expressways, with a total length of 872 kilometers costing 123.7 billion yuan ($18.4 billion), are being built in Henan and are to start operations in 2024 and 2025.
