Courier sector continues to expand

China's courier sector continued to grow in February, a monthly industry index showed. China's express delivery development index for February came in at 254.8, up 11 percent year-on-year, according to the State Post Bureau. The sub-index for the development scale grew 36.5 percent from a year earlier, said the SPB, adding that the monthly volume of parcels delivered is estimated to have increased 36 percent year-on-year while express delivery revenue went up 38 percent. The sub-indexes for development capacity and trends both picked up over 8 percent year-on-year, and the sector is expected to maintain medium-high growth in March, the SPB said.

To boost travel, Henan builds expressways

Central China's Henan province, with over 109 million residents, is building more expressways in its 17 prefecture-level cities to boost travel. In its northwestern parts, a nearly 48-kilometer expressway is in full progress since construction started in June 2021. For the Jiyuan-Xin'an Expressway, China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd installed the first prefabricated T-shaped box beam, 40 meters long and weighing 140 metric tons, on Changyuan Road Bridge. Some 14 expressways, with a total length of 872 kilometers costing 123.7 billion yuan ($18.4 billion), are being built in Henan and are to start operations in 2024 and 2025.
