Wang Chao, president of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as the spokesman for the 1st session of the 14th National People's Congress.
Born in 1960, Wang is a native of Hebei province and began working in 1982.
He has long worked in the field of foreign trade and economic cooperation.
He served as the assistant commerce minister in 2006 and stepped up to become vice-minister of commerce in 2010.
He then served as vice-foreign minister in 2013 and as the president of the CPIFA in July 2019.
CPIFA was founded in December 1949, and former foreign minister Li Zhaoxing is now its honorable president.
Wang Chao met with the press for the first time as the spokesman on Saturday.
