NEV tax exemptions nearly double
China's tax exemptions for purchases of new energy vehicles soared 92.6 percent year-on-year in 2022 amid the country's efforts to promote environmentally friendly automobile consumption, official data showed. A total of 87.9 billion yuan ($13.06 billion) in such taxes was waived last year, according to the State Taxation Administration. To shore up development of the NEV sector, China has been implementing the purchase tax exemption policy since 2014. In September 2022, it extended the preferential tax policy to the end of 2023.
