Beijing parks launch ice-snow entertainment activities during holiday
BEIJING -- More than 20 parks in Beijing, including the Summer Palace, Beihai Park and the Olympic Forest Park, have launched entertainment activities for the ice and snow season, said the municipal forestry and parks bureau on Saturday.
The city's parks have various venues -- like natural ice rinks and artificial snow resorts -- available for visitors. "Rivers, lakes and squares in some parks are also used for ice and snow activities," said Peng Qiang, head of the bureau's park administration office.
"There are traditional winter sports such as ice car, ice slide and ice bicycle in the ice rinks, while the snow resorts provide parent-child interactive entertainment, including snow frisbee and sightseeing trains. Some have even prepared a polar animal zoo," Peng added.
Beijing's serial events for the coming ice and snow season are expected to last until mid-February.
