Shanghai Shentong Metro Group announced on Friday morning that Metro Line 11 experienced a delay of more than 60 minutes due to an emergency repair.
The group further said the delay was caused by the failure of the power supply equipment of Line 11. An empty train was short-circuited and arced after leaving the depot, which resulted in two trains being forced to stop for evacuation.
The accident scene was accompanied by instantaneous sound, smoke, and sparks, but no injuries or explosion occurred, the group said.
The traffic resumed normal operation at 11:25 am, the group said.
