China has successfully embarked on a path of fighting corruption by relying on the advantages of institutions and the rule of law in the past decade under strong central leadership, a spokesman said on Saturday.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, unprecedented efforts have been made to combat corruption with remarkable results, said Sun Yeli, the spokesman for the 20th National Congress of the CPC at a news conference in Beijing.

Disciplinary and supervising agencies across the country have investigated about 4.52 million cases and brought to justice 4.44 million offenders from the 18th CPC National Congress to June this year, he said.

A complete set of intra-Party laws and regulations and an anti-corruption legal system have been formed, he said, adding that the Party has formulated or revised the code of conduct for intra-Party political life, regulations of integrity and self-discipline, as well as regulations of intra-Party oversight.

China has twice amended the Regulations of Disciplinary Punishment and those on disciplinary inspection. The Supervision Law and the Law on Administrative Discipline for Public Officials have been enacted, according to him.

The victory over corruption has been accomplished but the situation remains complex and challenging, Sun said, adding that the fight against corruption will continue with more targeted efforts.
