Hengshan Mountain in Hunan shimmers with first rime of winter

Hengshan Mountain's first rime spectacle of winter recently appeared as a strong cold front swept through Hengyang, Hunan province.
The frosty landscape began forming on Monday afternoon. As temperatures dropped to minus 1 C overnight, the humid air facilitated the rapid accumulation and thickening of ice crystals on trees and branches. By Tuesday morning, a thick rime had draped the mountainside in a stunning silvery-white mantle.
