Former senior Xiamen municipal legislator arrested

BEIJING -- China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) has announced its decision to arrest Chen Jiadong, a former senior legislator in the city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province, for suspected bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power.
The National Commission of Supervision completed an investigation into Chen's case and has handed it over to prosecutors, the SPP said.
Chen was formerly the chairman of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen Municipal People's Congress.
Further handling of the case is underway.
