Guo, 61, a folk artist of Guojiagou village, began to learn the traditional art from his father at the age of 13 and showed great interest.

The Shouyang bamboo horse performance was listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage in 2009. Guo became a provincial-level inheritor in 2019.

Starting from 2012, Guo began to visit old artists to collect more information and stories about the art.
