China's Wu Cuicui wins women's trap silver at Asian Championships
ALMATY - China's Wu Cuicui won a silver medal in the women's trap competition at the 10th Asian Shotgun Championships here on Sunday.
Wu, who won gold in the event at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea earlier this month, made 22 hits in the medal event, three behind gold medalist Sarah Alhawal of Kuwait.
Sarsenkul Rysbekova of Kazakhstan took the bronze ahead of fellow Chinese shooter Wang Xiaojing, who ranked first in the qualification.
In the men's trap medal match, China's Olympian Yu Haicheng shook off a bumpy start to tie Qatar's Rashid Hamad S A Al-Athba with 21 hits after 25 targets, but had to settle for a bronze with an inferior record in the ranking match.
Naser Meqlad of Kuwait had an excellent 31 hits for the gold medal, and Al-Athba took the silver with 27.
The 10th Asian Shotgun Championships will run until August 8, with men's and women's trap team event to be contested on Monday.
