Guterres, Iran's FM discuss Yemen peace

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian discussed peace in Yemen and the Iran nuclear deal in a phone call on Saturday. Guterres received a phone call from Amir Abdollahian, said Guterres' news office on Sunday in a readout. Guterres expressed his satisfaction at the extension of the truce in Yemen and his appreciation of Iran's efforts in this regard. He also reiterated his position that diplomacy must prevail in order to return to the full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Iran last week disconnected some cameras allowing international inspectors to monitor its nuclear activities.

Google pays $118m to settle gender suit

Google said on Sunday that it was "very pleased" to be settling, without admission of wrongdoing, a class-action lawsuit that argued it underpaid female employees and assigned them lower ranking positions. The $118 million settlement covers about 15,500 female employees who have worked for the company in California since September 2013, said law firms Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP and Altshuler Berzon LLP in a statement released on Friday night. The company also agreed for a third party to analyze its hiring and compensation practices as part of the settlement.

22 people hospitalized after train collision

Officials said on Monday that 22 people were hospitalized after a regional passenger train and a locomotive collided head-on in northeastern Spain. The regional government of Catalonia said five of the 22 were in serious condition. The collision occurred late on Sunday near the town of Vila-seca, south of Barcelona. There were 75 passengers on the train. Spain's railway infrastructure company Adif said the freight train engine had a brake problem. An investigation into the collision is ongoing. Traffic on the line remained interrupted on Monday.
