There was no leak of test papers on the first day of this year's national college entrance exam, or gaokao, according to a notice released by the National Education Examinations Authority on Wednesday.

Some netizens posted photos or questions of this year's math test paper online after the test concluded Tuesday afternoon, which triggered people's suspicion that this year's gaokao test papers might have been leaked prior to the exam.

The NEEA reported to the police right away and preliminary investigations showed that these photos are not from a leak of the test papers before the exam, but rather cheating during the exam or simply a troll to attract people's attention, the gaokao-administering authority said in a notice on its website.

In one case, an examinee in Gansu province had violated regulations by bringing a mobile phone into the exam room. After the test started, the examinee took photos of the test paper and posted in QQ chat groups to solicit answers from others.

In another case, an examinee in Guangdong province released a post before the math test and claimed that the post was about the test paper of this year's gaokao.

In fact, the examinee did not obtain any papers before the test started. What he did was replace the contents with questions he had during the test, it appears that he had gotten the questions before the test.

The NEEA said invigilators involved in these cases have been displaced and monitoring on these exam rooms will be strengthened in the remaining tests.

Examinees who violated test regulations and working staff members who are found to have neglected their duty will be strictly punished to preserve the fairness of gaokao, the authority said.
